Bus Evolution: From Horse-Drawn To Modern
A bus is one of the modern means of transportation in today’s era. Not owning a car is not a problem as you can commute by bus. If you do not like driving for long hours, you can take the bus and conveniently wait to arrive at your destination. Life has been favorable to us because of the existence of buses.
Before buses existed, people had a hard time traveling. Before the 1800’s, steam cars were invented but not everyone could afford, but later on the horse bus or horse-drawn omnibus was introduced and people in the city were able to transport to other areas quite conveniently. This horse-drawn vehicle is an enclosed cabin with two wooden seats placed on each side so the passengers would be facing to each other, while the driver is seated in front of the enclosed cabin facing front as with the horses. Some horse buses were even the double decker type where few people are seated on top of the enclosed cabin seated back to back, and the cabin is carried by three horses.
The difference of horse carriage is that today, we ride on it for experience and sightseeing while in the past, people had to ride it to be able to get to places and it can sometimes get distressing for them. The smell of the horses can get bad throughout the day and it sometimes get irritable. The heavy load and long hours of travel can tire horses and this can slow down the travel time. Horse flu existed back then, and it caused a halt to many horse-drawn transportations.
The next transportation that was invented was the cable car. Although it was efficient and wonderfully designed, the operational costs were too much and officials were worried for the safety of the passengers.
After this, the trolley bus came into existence. A street car had to follow rails with different routes placed in city streets and passengers need to go to station stops to ride the street car. This system had a positive effect to both the people and the city because people in the rural area could travel to the city to work. The city’s economy increased due to these revolutionary changes and with the improving industry. Some cities today still have street cars being used by netizens.
As years passed by, transportation became more convenient with the introduction of motorized buses. And this became a factor to the increasing demand of public transportation in cities. The designs of the buses have also evolved and changed to increase the number of passengers per trip.
City life can be difficult. In the Big Apple alone, more than 2 million people use the bus to go to work every day. Bus trips in Chicago reach to almost 19,000 daily.
With these much people using the bus on a daily basis, you simply cannot ignore the fact that the bus can get really unhygienic.
Bus rides of people must be convenient and have a clean feeling, and in order to keep it that way, it must have a bus wash. To effectively clean the bus, it must be done a good bus wash company. A clean bus is what many people want and need, and thankfully, there are bus wash services to keep in track with the demand.
